It hurts, but TG's tips will take the sting out of this sad experience!
- It isn't personal.
There's every possibility that you weren't left out on purpose - sometimes people just forget! If you accidentally left a friend out, you'd feel badly, right? So they're probably feeling sorry too.
- Do you really want to go?
Sometimes we want to be included just to say we were, or because we don't want to be by ourselves. Think carefully: do you really like the party host? Is the reason there's no-one to play with because you don't like their games? You might be happier not going anyway.
- Being by yourself rocks.
Some people think that being by yourself means being lonely. This couldn't be further from the truth! When you're alone you can do precisely what you want, when you want! Be your own best friend, and soon you'll look forward to having time to yourself.
- It's an opportunity to find true friends.
So you've been left out, and you're pretty sure it wasn't a mistake. Oh well. You know what it's time to do? Time to find friends who won't be hurtful, and who have things in common with you. Join the choir, try a new sport or audition for the school play. Signing up to an activity you like will put you in touch with people with the same interests!
