Hi Griff! What can you tell us about your latest single, ‘Miss Me Too’?
G: I'm really excited to release 'Miss Me Too' because it's a real pop banger. I think I started off releasing like quite a lot of sad girl songs and whilst the lyrics are still quite sad, I just think it's really fun and you can dance to it. I can't wait for you guys to hear it and enjoy it.
Besides family and friends, what do you miss when you’re travelling around the world?
G: There's not much to miss in the sense that when I'm on this side of the world, the weather's pretty nice. Like the food's pretty great. The UK right now is pretty miserable and dreary, so I'm not missing much.
What was it like meeting Taylor Swift at the Brit Awards?
G: It was very surreal. So that night I had just done like the biggest performance I'd ever done and I was really nervous. Then the show was over and I was walking back to my dressing room and my manager kind of took me a weird route. And I was like, 'I see what's going on here'. And then I turn a corner and he's like, 'Go on, you're gonna go say hi to Taylor'. I was like, 'No way'. At that point I was super tired and like discombobulated. I walked in and then there she was. She was everything. I wanted her to be and more. She was so sweet. It was actually during that time she was rerecording Red, so she was mainly just telling me about that. So yeah, it was cool. Amazing.
Wow! So you're part of TG's Class of 2024, but we were wondering what were you like in school?
G: I really didn't wanna be there. I really didn't wanna socialise with anyone. I wasn't particularly cool or popular. I was more just moody. I think puberty really hit me from a really young age, and so I just kind of detested my teen years from that point on. So, yeah. But I like to think I worked hard. I did wanna get good grades 'cause I was like quite competitive.
What were your favourite school subjects?
G: I really, actually, I weirdly loved Geography. I really got a kick outta Geography for some reason. And I then also fell in love with Textiles and Sewing. Weirdly enough, I hated Music. I hated the music department 'cause I just thought it was rigid and they didn't know what they were talking about. And I also hated English. So it's kind of ironic that I write songs now.
