“This is for all my ladies who don't get hyped enough. If you've been done wrong, then this your song, so turn it up…”
Hyped and turning it up they did! K-pop girl group TWICE definitely put on a show when Team TG attended Sydney Night 2 at Qudos Bank Arena for the <THIS IS FOR> World Tour. Lead single and title track of the tour ‘This Is For’ was the perfect start to the show bringing all the vibes and setting the tone for the night. It was then followed by ‘Strategy’, which most of the crowd recognised from KPop Demon Hunters (sadly ‘Takedown’ was not part of the set list, but that’s okay) and cheered so loudly for. The evening was split into four acts, plus an encore – Acts one and two covered a lot of tracks from the last five years, including ‘OPTIONS’, ‘MARS’, MAKE ME GO’, ‘MOONLIGHT SUNRISE’, and ‘The Feels’. Act three had Tzuyu, Mina, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Dahyun, Jihyo, Sana and Momo each performing solos from their latest TEN: The Story Goes On album, before diving into more classic TWICE tracks for Act four, including ‘What Is Love?’, ‘ONE SPARK’, ‘Feel Special’, and ‘Dance the Night Away’. Then the encore included newie ‘ME + YOU’ and oldie ‘Talk the Talk’. The girls celebrated their 10-year anniversary last month and they really do have so many bops!
FYI, Jeongyeon’s ‘Fix a Drink’ number was TG Ange’s fave – loving the country vibes of the song and Jeongyeon fully committed to the number wearing the cutest pink fringe jacket – we are OBSESSED and need it! It was really cool to see all the girls shine and take on different music genres.

For this tour, the girls elevated the experience for fans with a 360-degree stage that was shaped like a backwards S, allowing fans from all sides of the arena to be able to see them perform. The members made use of the whole stage, taking turns to come to different corners of the stages to wave and dance to fans. TWICE also had back up dancers, so they also used the space. There were also big screens with visuals while the girls performed to add to the vibe. The screens were also fun to watch in between acts while the girls went off stage to change costumes and really did become part of the show’s experience. It was also used to interact with fans like showing the Dance Cam before the encore – we saw some serious talent on those screens. Plus, the hydraulic lifts and platforms moving as the girls performed. The production of the <THIS IS FOR> World Tour truly was incredible!
The crowd ranged from girls wearing sparkles and bows in their hair, to guys in their mid 20s-30s (we actually think they might be some of the most enthusiastic fans in the crowd. We saw a lot of them singing and dancing their hearts out and we LOVE that for them!), to even families enjoying the show together – so sweet! Light sticks lit up the arena from all areas throughout the night – it was so magical. Btw, speaking of dancing, we were super impressed with the girls’ moves for the two plus hours they performed. They just kept bringing the energy, and dancing and singing at the same time – not always an easy feat! Leader Jihyo admitted to the crowd that she messed up some steps but we totally didn’t notice.

Language was no barrier for the girls – they had a translator who revealed the cute banter the girls were saying in Korean. Like when Nayeon decided to style Momo’s hair in pigtails and Jeongyeon and Jihyo were encouraging her to wear it like that in Melbourne (Melbourne TGs, drop us a comment and let us know if it happened at your shows!) Just like many other K-pop groups, TWICE enjoyed doing the ‘Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!’ chant with the crowd throughout the show. Towards the end of the night, they were also throwing water at each other and the crowd from their bottles. It was clear that just like the crowd, the girls were also having fun. This was such an epic show and we can’t wait to see what the next 10 years of TWICE brings!
