Step 1:

Spray your hair with sea salt spray so it's a little damp. Part your hair in half from ear-to-ear and tie the top section up into a bun. Take half of the bottom section and split it into three.

Step 2:

Cross the right-sided outside piece over the middle piece and then take the piece on the left and cross it over that. Continue to cross the hair from the right to the left, over the middle, until you're at the bottom and there's no hair to plait.

Step 3:

Do this with bottom halves of the bottom section, tying each plait with a clear elastic. Let more hair out of the bun and turn that into plaits as well by following Step 1 and 2. By the end all your hair should be in little plaits.

Step 4:

Sleep time! When you wake up, unravel each plait gently. Voila, mermaid waves!
