We get it, we love the web and use it for almost everything these days - streaming our fave movies, doing homework, watching hilar YouTube videos and maaaaybe the occasional TikTok, hehe. 🙈
There's literally sooooo many cool apps out there. But how do we know which ones are fun and safe to use?
In honour of Safer Internet Day, Angie Tutt, Head of Marketing at LEGO Australia (cool job, huh?) shares her best tips for finding the right app for you.
Read this and your 'rents will thank you. 😎
- Before downloading an app or game, check it's made for your age group (you can normally find this info at the top of the app's description).
- Be sure to get Mum or Dad's A-OK. You don't want to accidentally download an app that costs a whole month's worth of pocket money. Eeep!
- Stick to friends-only. It can be fun to talk to your friends and fam online, so if your app has chatting, live-video or photo sharing functions, ask an adult to help you check the settings and make your account private.
- We always prefer fam time over screen time, but when you are online, it's best to keep your parents around. That way, you can ask about any sites you're unsure of. Plus we're sure they'd love to see that adorbs doggo meme or try that TikTok with you. 😂
- Keep your 'rents in the loop. Tell them about the apps you're using and the content you're sharing. Who knows, they might end up liking the same apps, YouTubers or games as you!
Remember, if you ever feel uncomfortable about something online, talk to a trusted adult right away.
