Hi Liz! It's grand final time in your latest book, Liz Watson's Diary of a Netball Star: Grand Final. What advice would you give to TGs who are about to face a big match and might be feeling nervous?
L: Think about one or two things that you can focus on for the game. Just remember that the way you have been playing got you to this big match, so don’t try and change too much!
Diaries are good for confessing things. Tell us, what’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?
L: As a little kid I ran up and hugged, who I thought was my mum, from behind. It wasn’t my mum - it was another lady in the supermarket.
What were your favourite stories or books as a kid?
L: I loved anything Roald Dahl. They were always the first ones I would borrow from my school library and local library.
And what were you like as a kid?
L: I grew up with two brothers. It was always fun and active. We would play many different sports together and I would say that I was always outside playing sport. My brothers would team up together and pull pranks on me because I was the only girl in the family.
What has been the biggest challenge in your career?
L: I had to spend a season on the sideline in 2021 when I had surgery to a bone in my foot. It was challenging to not be able to play netball for a year, but it also helped me get fit and strong for the following seasons.
