Hi Jasmine! What were you like as a kid? What were you interested in?
J: I was obsessed with sport, anything that got me active I wanted to try. I enjoyed surfing, netball, basketball, athletics and then watching any type of sport as well, mainly Aussie Rules football. So as a child, I spent a lot of time outdoors and I was extremely competitive, didn’t like losing to anyone.
What was the very first sports team you ever played for?
J: Warragul Basketball Association’s Hoop Time team was the first formal sports program I tried. I was either seven or eight and absolutely loved it.
Aww! What are you most excited about for the new AFLW season?
J: A new challenge, we made it to the grand final last year and proved to the competition we are a strong team. So I’m excited to try to go one step further this season.
What are some songs that are on your game day pump up playlist?
J: Old school tunes for me. Anything Beyonce, Rhianna, Adele, I need to be able to sing along, and sing loudly.
If you weren’t playing AFL, what would you be doing?
J: I work part time as a physiotherapist, so I would probably be working full time and specialising in a specific area. But if I didn’t have to work, I would love to be traveling the world and chasing summer around the globe.
What are three tips for TGs to help them improve their footy skills?
J: 1. Practice does make perfect, the more times you can touch a footy the better.
2. Challenge yourself, don’t always practice the things your good at, go outside your comfort zone and that’s were improvement really takes place.
3. Enjoy what you are practicing. The best part about footy is having fun.
