Did you hear a massive SQUEE earlier this week? Yeah, that was me when I found out that a Hello Kitty diner was coming to Australia. Specifically to Sydney, which is where I live. So I know where I’m getting all my food from now on, lol.

I am a super fangirl when it comes to Hello Kitty – you should see all the different products I have! You probably know she’s a character who looks like a cute little cat in overalls and that she comes from Japan. But I bet there’s some stuff you didn’t know, so I’m going to spill some Hello Kitty secrets right here, right now…

1. She’s not a cat, she’s a girl. Yep, it’s true. The company that invented her, Sanrio, has always said this, but people were all like, "Srsly, what? Mind has been blown!” last year when they found out. This fact made news around the world. Did you know she’s not really a kitty cat? If you did, you are for reals smarter than some grown ups who didn’t…

2. Which brings me to… not being a cat herself, she nonetheless HAS a cat. Her pet’s name is Charmy Kitty, who looks like Hello Kitty, only more actual-real-life cat-like. Confused? Don’t worry, it's totes confusing.

3. Hello Kitty is a twin. That twin sis, Mimmy, looks just like her, but wears a yellow bow and on the opposite ear to Hello Kitty so you can tell them apart.

4. If you’re into Hello Kitty, you can go to PuroLand, a theme park in Japan, or to Hello Kitty Park in China. Or you can go flying in the Hello Kitty jet, which flies to and from Taipei. OMTG, she has – or like, is – a jet too!

5. While the company that dreamt up Hello Kitty is from Japan, Hello Kitty herself is from… England!

6. Do you know the reason Hello Kitty has no mouth? Sanrio says it’s because she ‘speaks from the heart’.

7. She’s really small – her height is described as the same as “five apples”. Yep, you measure her with fruit. Cute?!

8. Her celebrity fans include Katy Perry and Ariana Grande.
