  • Candice Meets Ty Burrell & Ariel Winter!

    by Saturday Disney's Candice | Mar 17, 2014
    Hi Total Girls!

Red carpet events are always so exciting, especially when I get to interview famous actors! I chatted with the voice stars of the movie Mr. Peabody & Sherman at the Australian premiere in Sydney.

Ty Burrell told me all about his adventures voicing Mr. Peabody, and Ariel Winter talked about how much fun she had voicing Penny Peterson.

I learnt that imagination is really important when voicing a character. Generally, the actor will record their lines in a studio without being able to bounce off the other characters. I would love to become a voice actor one day, especially because I could wear my pyjamas to work!

From voice actors to vocal sensations, I’ve experienced a lot of talent lately! I had the best time hanging out with Jai Waetford. Teigan and I made up a song for Jai and to our surprise, he thought it was pretty good!

Jai did some amazing singing for us and explained how he taught himself the guitar.  I once tried to teach myself the ukulele but I got so many blisters on my fingers! Jai inspired me to give it another go, he’s right, practise is key! At only 15, Jai is seriously achieving massive goals.

I wonder who the next talented artist will be? Could it be you?  Anything is possible, keep working on making your dreams come to life.

  • Candice's 2014 Goals!

    by Candice | Feb 12, 2014
    Hi Total Girls!

Happy 2014! I always get so excited at the beginning of a new year.  It’s usually a time for fireworks, new calendars and the smell of new stationery.  Plus it’s still warm enough to go for a swim after school or work.

I also have my birthday at the start of the year on the 9th!  This year for my birthday I went to the movies in the morning, went to the beach for lunch and then had Mexican with my family for dinner.  Guacamole is one of my favourite foods yum!

Anyway enough about my birthday…the start of a new year is all about thinking up new goals and dreams.

This year, I really wish to explore a new city, encounter an animal I’ve never seen before and see a new musical.  Teigan and I have already started planning some top secret travelling adventures so stay tuned!  I also want to invent a brand new smoothie recipe and master the art of making healthy pancakes for breakfast.

We’ve been filming a lot of awesome stories this year! I can tell you that there’ll be lots of disgusting punishments, embarrassing dares and cooking chaos.  Please don’t forget to send us your ideas for Double Dog Dare. I’ll be waiting!

  • Merry Christmas Total Girls!

    by Candice | Dec 17, 2013

    Hi Total Girls!

    Merry Christmas!

Christmas is my absolute favourite time of the year.  There’s so much excitement.  Not only is it summer, school holidays and almost a new year but all of my favourite fruit are in season.

I hope you’ve started planning your Christmas fun! I’ve already received my special Christmas present this year and that was visiting Disneyland in California with Teigan and Nathan.

Candice hangs out with Nathan and Teigan at Disneyland

One of my Disneyland highlights was eating Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles with all our Disney friends.  I was also lucky enough to catch up with the lovely Fairy Godmother who granted me a wish! I wished to turn our Disney House into a Disney castle. I wonder when it will happen...maybe I’ll have to help with the interior decorating.

After indulging in the waffles, we were ready to hit the rides! The Mad Tea Party, Matterhorn Bobsleds and the Storybook Land Canal Boats were my highlights because it took me back to my very first Disneyland visit when I was just six years old.  I was a lot braver (and taller) this time round!

The Saturday Disney gang wear crazy hats!

Now that I’m back in Australia, I’ve already set up my Christmas tree, bought a box of mangoes and have been warming up my vocal chords for some serious carolling. Wishing you a magical Christmas! I hope that you can spread the Christmas joy wherever you may be.

    Keep Smiling and dreaming.

  • Cody Simpson, Alli Simpson and more!

    by Candice | Oct 04, 2013

    Hi Total Girls!

LA.  Cody Simpson.  Alli Simpson.  Wow this month has been awesome! I was lucky enough to fly over to the USA and interview Cody and Alli in their family home at Manhattan Beach, California.  Cody and Alli don’t usually have interviews at their house so I felt incredibly grateful.  These guys were cool, funny and really lovely. It’s such a small world, I actually went to the same school as Cody and Alli on the Gold Coast in Queensland.  In fact, my triplet sisters were in Cody’s class.  From school boy to international pop sensation, Cody is seriously living the dream.

    Candice and Cody Simpson

We chilled on the couch and chatted about Cody’s journey into the music industry.  He was only twelve when he was discovered and soon after his family packed up and joined him in the USA to pursue his music career.  Alli also recently released her very first single! It’s so awesome to see a brother-sister combo following their dreams.

I wonder if they will ever collaborate?  With that in mind, I decided to play a game with Alli and Cody called How Well Do You Know Each Other?  We used Aussie Lamingtons to keep score.  The highlight of the game was when we busted out with Cody’s favourite hip-shaking dance moves!  Cody and Alli are so inspirational.  I can’t wait to see what they achieve next.  Cody will be heading back to Australia soon to tour alongside Justin Bieber so I’ll be keeping an eye out.

  • Samantha Jade, Spencer Boldman and more!

    by Candice | Sep 02, 2013
    Hi Total Girls!

One of the best parts of my job is meeting super talented people. I was lucky enough to catch up with Samantha Jade who is an incredible singer! I rapped while Samantha Jade sang a tune and it was awesome. Even though she’s a pop star she still gets nervous before she performs. Samantha handles her nerves by thinking 'where would I rather be?'

Samantha wants nothing more than to be singing on stage so she decides to get over the nerves and have fun. I think that’s a great idea!

    Candice and Samantha Jade!

This month I also caught up with Disney superstar Spencer Boldman. Teigan, Nathan and I found the perfect vantage point to show Spencer, Australia. We took him to a lookout in a building that was 268 metres above Sydney. We quizzed Spencer about Australia and he learnt so much. Spencer will be all set for his next visit to Aus!

Teigan, Nathan, Candice and Spencer Boldman!

Speaking of new heights, I recently learnt how to slam dunk with the Sydney Kings. Okay well I may have had some help, okay yes they lifted me up…but at least I tried! I also learnt how to dribble, shoot and cheer-lead!

  • I Met Bridgit Mendler! Best. Job. Ever.

    by Candice | Aug 06, 2013
    Hi Total Girls!

I’ve always dreamed of meeting Disney star Bridgit Mendler and my wish finally came true! I went behind the scenes of a Total Girl photo shoot and guess who was there? That’s right, Bridgit Mendler! We chatted about Good Luck Charlie, her music and how to take a great selfie. Bridgit was so cool that she even let me sing/rap along with her!

    Bridgit Mendler and Candice Dixon!

Speaking of music, I was also lucky enough to catch up with the band What About Tonight.  The guys showed me how to do an awesome air guitar and even shared some performing tips. One includes not speaking before the show…that is one tip I would certainly struggle with! All this music and singing has inspired me to take up singing lessons.  Oooh maybe I could support Bridgit one day, who knows!

What About Tonight with Saturday Disney

This month has really been about trying new things! I recently experienced my very first skiing class. I travelled to Falls Creek, Victoria and had the best time. Yes, I fell over one or two or ten times but I got back up again and that’s all that matters! I now have a new appreciation for winter.

    Candice tries Skiing!

I also have some very exciting news for you! My lovely friend Teigan Nash joined Saturday Disney and we’ve been having a blast! She’s so awesome; I can’t wait for our next adventure! I’ll keep you posted!

  • My New York Dream!

    by Candice | Jul 02, 2013
    Hi Total Girls!

New York, New York! My latest adventure was to The Big Apple.  It was my first time visiting this buzzing city and it was one of the best experiences of my life!  I was able to see so many incredible sights including the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Times Square and Broadway.

While I was in the heart of the city, I attended the world premiere of the movie ‘Epic.’ There was a green carpet and I was lucky enough to chat with some of the ‘Epic’ cast including: Amanda Seyfried, Colin Farrell, Chris O’Dowd and Aziz Ansari. I also chatted with the director Chris Wedge and explored the animation studio where ‘Epic’ was made!

My favourite part of New York?  I’ve decided that I have two.  The first is Central Park because it’s beautiful and filled with excitement.  As I walked around the park, I noticed people playing instruments, a man painting a portrait and guess what!?  There were sea lions! That’s right, Central Park has its very own zoo.  Oh and I can’t forget to mention the cute squirrels running all around the park.   Did you know that Central Park is larger than the country of Monaco?

    Candice in Central Park

My other favourite place is Times Square.  It’s seriously the most colourful, crazy, chaotic place I have ever been! There’s lots of flashing lights, oversized billboards and hundreds of yellow taxis.  I was so excited to visit Broadway which is where all the world’s best musicals are performed! The trip made me realise just how many opportunities there are all around the world.  You just need to find your dream and go for it!

  • The day I met Olly Murs!

    by Candice | Jun 25, 2013

    Hi Total Girls!

Two words. Olly Murs! I had SO much fun hanging out with Olly who had come all the way from the U.K. We chatted about his journey from X Factor UK runner up to international pop star. Olly said that he gets the inspiration for his music from cartoons and speaking to his friends. The coolest part was when he said that he could write a song inspired by Saturday Disney. (DO IT!!) That really made my day! I was also impressed by Olly's Aussie knowledge. I decided to play a game with him called 'In Case You Didn't Know' which was inspired by his album. I held up Aussie objects for Olly to identify. He named the koala correctly as well as the ugg boots! He thought the kookaburra was a woodpecker and had no idea what the ANZAC biscuit was... but ate it anyway! Olly Olly Olly, Oi Oi Oi!

    Candice met Olly Murs

After chilling on the couch, it was time to get up and learn ballet! I was so stoked about becoming a ballerina that I rushed out to get a pretty tutu and tiara. But I didn't realize that ballet isn't glamorous when you have to wear pointe shoes. I had a go at standing up in the pointes after some convincing from Dana Stephensen, a dancer from The Australian Ballet. I felt as though I needed an ice bucket after my experience... I can't imagine what it would be like after an entire show! The pointe shoes are designed to make ballet dancers look like they're floating across the stage. It didn't work for me... I looked like I was stepping on bindis in the garden. I was so impressed after meeting Chengwu Guo, a male soloist with the Australian Ballet. He was basically a pretzel... I don't think I've ever seen anyone as flexible as him. He lifted me up in a little routine he taught me... for a second you might have thought I was a real ballerina (emphasis on the second).

Can't wait to tell you what I get up to next! Until then, keep celeb spotting and take a ballet class (I dare you!)

  • My amazing trip to Magnetic Island, QLD!

    by Candice | Jun 04, 2013

    Hi Total Girls!

I love exploring Australia.  There is so much in our own backyard that we don’t know about! I recently travelled to Townsville, Queensland and then caught a seaplane to Magnetic Island.  That’s right, a plane that lands in the sea! It was my first time on a seaplane and I was really excited.  It was all smooth sailing (or should I say flying) until the pilot decided to do a trick and took us upside down! Hello butterflies! It’s all very glamorous until you realise you’ve got to walk through the water to get onto the beach.  Luckily for me, the pilot was kind enough to give me a piggyback!

Candice gets a piggy-back from the sea plane!

I must say that the locals were very friendly...especially the koalas and horses!  I love cuddling koalas because they grip on to you like you’re a tree!  I could seriously hold a koala all day long! Now, I’m not the most confident horse rider but horses are one of my favourite animals.  I rode a beautiful horse called Freckles through a paddock filled with mint before taking some horses for a swim at the beach.  It can be dangerous so I had the help of a professional to guide me through the water.  Our instructors carefully helped us into the ocean and the horses loved it! It was a great way for them to cool down.   It was one of the most bizarre/fantastic moments in my life!

  • The Addams Family and Jet Boating!

    by Candice | Jun 04, 2013
    Hi Total Girls!

Hilarious, crazy and welcoming are just some of the words I would use to describe the musical cast of The Addams Family. I caught up with the talented people who play Wednesday, Pugsley and Lucas.

I brought along my pet spider called Saturday to see if he'd have a chance of being part of the cast. I better mention Saturday is plastic (I'm way too scared to have a real spider). After making friends with Pugsley's lizard puppet, I successfully convinced the cast to accept Saturday.

    Candice at The Addams Family

Now I officially have a star as a pet! Look out Broadway, here comes Saturday!

After achieving my goal, it was time to let off some steam and have my very first go in a jet boat! Jet boats are very different to normal boats because they are propelled by a jet of water rather than a propeller.

    Candice in a Jet Boat!

The boat sucks water up through a jet unit and sprays it out the back. Amazingly, the jet boat can fill a family size swimming pool in about two minutes! I had the most incredible time bouncing over waves.

We pulled off moves including 270-degree spins, wild fishtails and power brake stops. I thought I looked so glamorous boating around the harbour until a huge wave completely saturated me! I seriously should have worn a shower cap. Next time!

    Keep smiling! Love Candice xx
